The TORQline™ equipped Apex Jaguar XKR had its first full day of testing on British soil. The trouble free test day at Silverstone also came with the news that another team car has been sold.
At the very wet Silverstone circuit, former Jaguar Le Mans veteran, David Leslie, put the new GT3 car through its paces. As well as the planned testing and development part of the day, members of the media were invited to ride in the passenger’s seat for a few laps of the Silverstone track. Everyone emerged from the XKR with a broad smile across their faces with the experienced chauffeur, Leslie at the wheel.
It was the first time David Leslie had driven the XKR, “This is really an excellent chassis. It handles extremely well, even in the very wet conditions, and it ran reliably all day. The aerodynamic balance, brakes and transmission are all very good and the car, of course, looks phenomenal”.
The XKR is fitted with a TORQline™ CS advanced composite propshaft, custom built for the 475 bhp Jaguar. The TORQline™ propshaft has the benefits of reducing weight giving less rotational inertia whilst increasing performance.
Apex motorsport team principal, Richard Lloyd was also pleased with the day’s progress, “We plan to build on this with another day at Silverstone next week, this time on the Grand Prix circuit so we will then get a good idea of where we are in outright performance terms.”
The day’s successful testing session came with more good news that another team car has been sold to a Swiss enthusiast. Apex Director, Harry Handkammer was delighted with the news, “As far as this most recent sale is concerned, we are in the unusual position of having an owner who doesn’t want to drive the car himself so we are actually looking for drivers. I somehow don’t think we’ll be looking for long!”
